Job Description

With unrivaled expertise in immunology, and operating sites in North America (East and West Coast) and Europe, Nexelis is a leading provider of assay development and advanced laboratory testing services in the infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, and oncology fields. Our versatile team of scientists, working with our advanced technology platforms, were instrumental in the development, qualification, validation, and large-scale sample testing of assays that supported the FDA filing of almost 100 new molecular entities, including blockbuster vaccines, anti-viral drugs, and immunotherapy, gene and cell therapy products.We are currently looking for motivated candidates with experience to fill the Scientist position. The Scientist will have solid expertise in immunological techniques such as MesoScale Discovery (MSD), Luminex, ELISA and will be responsible for performing assay development, qualification and validation of a variety of ligand binding assays (LBA), including but not limited to SARS-CoV-2 and its variants.Your main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for experiments at the bench based on training and competencies and can be assigned conduct validation and/or sample analysis;
  • Perform the maintenance, development, qualification and validation of assays such as MSD, Luminex and ELISA to assess the immune responses to various vaccine/drug candidates including, but no limited to SARS-CoV-2 and it variants;
  • Prepare development/qualification/validation plans and reports, procedures (analytical method) that meet scientific standards and comply with Nexelis’ quality assurance and operations standards and the client-specific requirements;
  • Conduct literature searches of science/medical search engines and libraries;
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the assays;
  • Be compliant to all applicable regulations (e.g., GCLP) and biosafety / EHS standards;
  • Communicate potential problems that could impact quality of the work performed in the laboratory and data reliability and discusses appropriately with line manager;
  • Ensure the accuracy of data and results.
What we are looking for:
  • College degree and/or University degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology or another appropriate field.
  • Previous laboratory experience is an asset. Previous experience in immunoassay techniques, including new technologies such as ELISA, Luminex and MSD, and including test design and complex data analysis will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in method maintenance, development and validation of immunogenicity assays;
  • Team player, client oriented and strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Autonomous, resourceful and proactive.
  • Proficient with office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • 1 year of pertinent work experience, ideally in a CRO and/or a pharmaceutical company;
  • Excellent French and English, written and spoken.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and already be in Canadian territory by the time of sending their application.
