Job Description

Position PostingCollection Operator – Seasonal (Non-Certified) (2 Positions Available) Term of Employment:Full-Time, Seasonal (April 29, 2024 – August 30, 2024)Rate of Pay:Wateramp; Wastewater Salary Grid: $30.12 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)Current Location:Operations CenterDuties:As a member of the Wastewater Team, the Distributionamp; Collection Operator is responsible for providing support to the department’s day to day operations. This position will also provide crucial support to successfully complete Wastewater Collection’s initiates for 2024. Specific duties include:

  • Inspection of sanitary mains for Infiltration and Inflow Reduction Program.
  • Inspection and camera work of sanitary and stormwater mains for Condition Assessment.
  • Maintenance and inspection of stormwater ponds and channels.
  • Maintenance and flushing of Sanitary/Storm mains
  • Assist SEO with hydro-vac services such as CC repairs, Sign installations, Hydrant repairs, Lift station cleaning, Septic tank cleaning, expose underground utility lines.
  • Camera inspection of sanitary services to support the Pollution Prevention Program.
  • Provide efficient response to residents and business in management of surface run-off/drainage.
  • Provide public services (Sewer auger and camera inspection)
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System.
Qualifications:The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Enrollment in post-secondary for: Environmental Sciences, Water Distribution, Water Treatment Technology would be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to converse both verbally and in written correspondence with all levels of staff, operators and all external stakeholders.Be clear and concise while providing relevant information on the appropriate technical level.
  • Must have strong time management skills to balance changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract is required.This position will be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business purposes. Class 3 Driver’s License in Alberta or Saskatchewan would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of City addresses/streets.
  • Understanding of the operation of sanitary and storm sewer systems.
  • Understanding of technology such as computers and tablets.
  • Work conditions may include: fast paced environment, physically demanding, must be able to lift up to 25kg (50 lbs), and be able to work at heights (ladder use)
  • This position is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal record check prior to start date.
  • Preference will be given to students.
Schedule:Normal working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours.
