We are professional, agile, and innovative and are pursuing aggressive growth plans in the industry!Our electric motor systems technicians test, rebuild and repair electric motors, generators, transformers, controllers and related electrical and mechanical equipment used in commercial, industrial and institutional establishments.Key Job Responsibilities:Assist in the diagnosis of problems in electric motor systemsDismantle electric motors and other electrical and mechanical equipment for servicing, modification or repairRemove and replace shafts, bearings, commutators and other components, referring to blueprints or service manuals as requiredWind and assemble various types of coils for electric motors or transformers and reinstall themBalance armatures or rotorsWeld and braze or solder electrical connectionsAlign and adjust parts to close tolerances in order to reassemble itemsComplete relevant repair paperwork.Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performanceTest and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipmentTroubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipmentUse machining tools to fabricate or recondition partsReplace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other componentsWeld or braze componentsWind, assemble and install various types of coilsPerform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotorsRead and interpret blueprintsPerform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other partsTest and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgearQualifications/RequirementsJourneyman Certification in Electric Motor Systems is IdealAlberta registered Electric Motor Systems Technician Apprentice is an assetMinimum of 5 (five) years experience in a similar repair facility is an assetMust have electrical theory (AC and DC)Be able to understand and use tests equipment and instruments required to perform preliminary, intermediate and final testsMust be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawingsMechanical aptitudeManual dexterityStrength and staminaThe ability to pay careful attention to detailBasic knowledge of hand toolsGood organizational and planning skillsHigh standard for safety and qualityTeam-oriented approach and thought processExperience with electric motor repair, including all aspects of the tradeComputer literacy would be an advantage for some shop processes and possible internal/external communicationOverhead crane and or forklift certification is considered an assetWe are seeking at least 5 qualified applicants for this role.
