Job Description

We’re passionate about learning every day and being impactful—and our professional staff reflects that in their daily work.Reporting to the Director, Geomatics, the Manager helps sets strategic direction for the region, implementing effective objective setting and delivering to action plans ensuring the region is meeting targets and contributing to the success of the Geomatics Business Unit involved in Transportation, Infrastructure, Industrial, & Power projects. In addition, this position will carry moderate project management workload. This is a leadership position has significant impact with external clients and internal team members.Build Effective Client Relationship

  • Build, maintain and strengthen positive relationships with clients; be/become our clients’ trusted advisor.
  • Manage client expectations, scope creep/changes, and issues through active communication.
  • Communicate with clients and internal team members to ensure timely flow of information, actions, deliverables, timelines and budgets.
Deliver Project Excellence
  • Lead and/or assist in preparing quality proposals in conjunction with our proposal office that meet the client’s requirements, including but not limited to defining scope, assumptions, standard content, execution plan, schedule, detailed cost estimates and project profitability estimates.
  • Improve profitability of projects through effective planning and active scope/schedule management.
  • Forecast project outcomes and adjust where necessary to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Guide and direct project management employees on measures to mitigate project performance issues and risks, ensuring successful delivery on the contractual commitments and financial targets for the market project portfolio in order to meet client expectations and achieve or exceed profitability targets for the business line.
  • Standardization of survey deliverables both in the field and office.
  • Plan checking of survey plans when required.
  • Approving daily field and office LEM’s and ensuring all Project Managers complete this daily.
Mentor & Lead Project Teams
  • Lead a project team to deliver quality work on time and on budget.
  • Facilitate an environment of high performance. Mentor and support the development of self and the project team members.
  • As part of our on-going commitment to employee engagement and our strategic promise to retain and develop top talent, leaders will develop and implement engagement action plans aimed at increasing retention and reducing turnover.
  • Act as a spokesperson for GeoVerra within the community and encourage staff to do the same. Participate in industry associations and proactively work to raise local GeoVerra brand awareness.
Safety
  • Act as a safety champion by consistently moving safety forward, using pro-active communication to prevent incidents and ensure all employees know that safety is GeoVerra’s number one priority.
  • Maintain a risk-aware project environment, recognizing risk events early and proactively mitigating.
Required Skills, Experience, and Behavior
  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, B.Sc. in Geomatics or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of survey experience with minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Alberta Land Surveyor (ALS) license will be preferred.
  • Other Professional designations (PMP, CLS, P.Eng. CET, P.Tech.) will be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong awareness of project budget, scope and primary tasks to maintain project schedules.
  • Ability to support and mentor/teach other members of the team.
  • Skilled at relationship management, maintaining and leveraging relationships with key stakeholders
