Job Description

DescriptionServus is growing! We are looking for a Small Business Advisor to joinour Lloydminster Business Banking team.Apply before: August 5, 2022Compensation: $61,271 - $76,589Additional Information: This is a full-time, temporary position (approximately 18 months)Reporting to the Senior Relationship Manager Team Lead, your primary goal is the development and administration of a Small Commercial Loan and Deposit portfolio, including accountability for the competent management of that portfolio. Emphasis will be placed on loan administration, sales, service, Member advice and growth. As a Small Business Advisor, you will implement a proactive approach to sales and business development by cultivating a strong working relationship with existing and potential members, the retail branch network, local business owners, and members of the professional community.The role is developmental in nature, and as such the expectation is to continue to gain knowledge through training and coaching to increase skills. The Associate Small Business Advisor receives guidance from the Small Business Advisor Team while adhering to standards and guidelines and a commitment to quality delivery of services.More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain effective sales and marketing efforts on an existing portfolio to maximize Small Business loan growth, deposit growth and sales of peripheral products to help our members succeed in business.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales and referral goals.
  • Communicate product and service information, utilize fact finding questions and professional responses to address objections; ask for the business.
  • Understand our current Business Banking and Retail Banking products and services, relevant policies, and legislation by regularly reviewing literature, attending meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide proactive advice to our Small Business members by offering tailored solutions to meet their financial needs.
  • Provide credit-based Business solutions to Small Business Members up to and including $250,000.00.
  • Assist in managing the Region’s lending and deposit activities through Team Leads including recommending rates within discretionary Retail and Business Banking limits, approving loans within prescribed lending authorities and preparing the submission of loan packages to Business Banking for loan requests above those limits.
RequirementsTo qualify, you will need at least the following:
  • 2 - 5 years of demonstrated basic ability of credit granting and sales of Retail Banking and Business Banking products.
  • Essential knowledge and skills include basic business development skills, analytical abilities and a basic knowledge of portfolio management.
  • Experience working and developing relationships with members, potential members, influential community people and staff is required.
As a Small Business Advisor, you are required to work towards the completion of the Certificate in Small Business Banking Course (Moody’s Analytics) as noted below:1) Small Business Lending (SBL)2) Delivering Small Business Solutions (DSBS)3) Building Relationships with Small Business Clients (BRSB)4) Understanding Small Business Environment (USBE)Most importantly, were looking for candidates who align with our values.
