The successful candidate will be working on major pipeline projects throughout the full lifecycle of our client’s pipeline projects, primarily in providing geomatic services to the Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Division. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual who enjoys working in the great outdoors, looking to gain hands on surveying experience and gain valuable experience in the pipeline industry. Reporting to a Field Supervisor or Party Chief, you will aid the survey team in the timely and efficient completion of surveys and assignments to meet McElhanney’s client needs.What You Can Expect:

What You’ll Be Doing:
    • Participate and contribute to McElhanney’s Heath, Safety and Environment (HSE) program.
    • Attend and participate in McElhanney’s monthly field safety meetings.
    • Attend and complete all required onboarding orientations, safety training and meet or exceed all the required elements for certification.
    • Participate and contribute to the daily HSE Safe and Quality Production (SQP) plan and attend all morning toolbox safety meetings.
    • Utilize all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s) or snowmobiles (Skidoo’s) to access worksite from the survey vehicle. (Training provided for the required certification and competency)
    • Follow instructions as received from your Field Supervisor or Party Chief to assist in daily survey tasks..
    • Set-up and operation of conventional survey and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment.
    • Learn to prepare accurate field notes, as required.
    • Clean and maintain survey equipment (including company vehicle), maintain supplies, stock company vehicle, and charge all electronic survey equipment daily or as instructed.
What You’ll Bring:
    • High school diploma, technical school education and at least 1-year previous experience working in an outdoor environment.
    • Physical ability to work in mountainous/forested/coastal terrain and remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Ability to travel out of town.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills, and general computer knowledge.
    • Pre-employment drug and alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.
