Job Description

Position PostingVisitor Service Attendant – Museum Attendant – Summer Student(1 Position Available) Term of Employment:Full-Time, Summer Term (April 29 – August 31, 2024)Rate of Pay:Student Wage Band: $17.35 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)Current Location:Lloydminster Museum + Archives (LMA)amp; Weaver Heritage ParkDuties:The Visitor Services Attendant – Museum Attendant is responsible to assist in the overall operation of the facility with a focus on program development, support, and implementation.The Visitor Services Attendant – Museum Attendant will:

  • Assist with reception duties.
  • Process admissions, provide customer service, and respond to inquiries
  • Lead interpretive tours of the galleries and outdoor displays.
  • Assist with summer youth programming at the museum
  • Assist with the organization, cataloguing, and storage of the Museum’s heritage collection.
  • Assist in leading education programs for school groups.
  • Maintain the grounds at Weaver Park, such as string trimming, gardening, weeding, and garbage removal.
  • Assist in supporting public events.
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System.
  • Other related duties from time to time as required.
Schedule:This position will work days, evenings and weekends.Qualifications:The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Must be creative, outgoing, and comfortable working with small groups of children in a hands-on learning setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to effectively and tactfully deal with the public.
  • Must be comfortable handling cash, reconciling a cash till, and conducting daily deposits
  • An interest in history is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and in unheated historical buildings, and perform manual duties, such as gardening, painting, string trimming, moving equipment, and operating a City of Lloydminster fleet vehicle.
