Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Nicole #39;s ChoiceDirect Service - (OPSEU)Full-time, Contract (Ending: November 21, 2025)London, Ontario (London Zone)- Application Deadline: July 20, 2025 -Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible.Our Nicole #39;s Choice program embodies this ideal by providing stable, independent housing, with regular supports, for a vibrant community of women experiencing or at risk of homelessness while struggling with mental health or addictions concerns. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 3 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.WHAT WE #39;RE OFFERING:

  • What you #39;ll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated)
    • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you #39;ll work - 70 hours biweekly; Monday-Friday 9am-5pmamp; Rotating Weekends
  • Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • What your benefits will be - 9% in lieu of benefits
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Work with clients and help motivate/support them to work towards achievement of their goals
  • Champion each client’s capacity for independent community living
  • Assist clients to maintain suitable housing
  • Facilitate and implement resident meetings
  • Provide health teaching about addiction, mental illness and symptom management
  • Crisis intervention and prevention
  • Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization etc.
  • Advocate for and support clients in accessing community resources
  • Documentation related to clients
  • Ensure effective communication with Director, Managers, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning each participant’s progress
  • Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning participants, staff, and property
  • Make decisions both independently and collaboratively
WHAT YOU #39;LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.   • University/college degree or diploma in social science, or a related field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Experience working in the addiction and mental health field
  • Current Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
  • Experience working residence setting
  • Health and safety knowledge; knowledge of safe food handling procedures
  • Crisis intervention and prevention
  • Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training (ASIST)
  • First Aidamp; CPR
