Job Description

We encourage all qualified persons to apply, particularly Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized people, and people with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, and others who share our values and contribute to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.We are looking for a Friendly Calls Assistant, collaborating with the Friendly Calls Program Coordinator, the Assistant Coordinator will support the Friendly Calls Program within the Community Health Team. In this role, you will:

  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist in the effectiveness of the Program
  • Provides administrative and client-centred support to the Friendly Calls program
  • Assists with increasing awareness of Red Cross programs
  • Gathers and records information, and produces reports as needed
  • Supports Friendly Calls volunteer team and tasks related to the Friendly Calls program
  • Updates and maintains contact information and other data bases as required
  • Supports volunteer onboarding and systems in place for volunteer engagement
  • Assesses, monitors and evaluates needs and activities, follows up when required and contributes to processes documenting recommendations and lessons learned.
What we are looking for:
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English, including handling interactions with clients and colleagues required as well as telephone and email etiquette skills
  • Professionalism and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and build positive internal and external relationships
  • Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office are required
  • Flexibility, professionalism, independence
  • Quick learner and ability to problem solve
Working conditions:This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program so applicants must meet the eligibility criteria as outlined by the CSJ program.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Work is performed in an office environment as part of a virtual team however, during COVID-19 operations, work is performed at home
  • This position also requires a satisfactory Canadian criminal record & reference check
  • A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position and operation (the CRC will however adhere to its duty to accommodate those who are unable to be fully vaccinated for a reason related to a human right protected ground)
