The role will provide expertise based on education and experience for all generation assets as part of the Operations Engineering group to ensure the long-term profitability and safety of the assets.AccountabilitiesProject Management:- Execute intermediate projects of medium scope and complexity related to the upgrade, repair, replacement or retrofit of hydropower generation equipment (including Francis and Kaplan turbines, intake and wicket gates, hydraulic power unit, trash rack cleaning machines, hoists, cooling systems, bolted connections).- Effectively communicate project status, risks and opportunities, and cost / schedule performance to stakeholders.- Manage external partners, including service providers, contractors, consultants, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers as required to meet project requirements.- Provide project planning services for technology-based projects including preparing; (1) scope of work definition, (2) budget estimating, and (3) project scheduling for the purpose of project justification and obtaining project approval.- Prepare, support, update, and maintain various project documents including business cases, project justification summaries, project charters, project plans, project status reports, tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines, project schedules, technical memos, requests for information, project completion reports, etc.Engineering Support:- Apply engineering knowledge and expertise, with a low to moderate level of guidance and direction, for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the hydropower generation portfolio of Liberty Renewables. Opportunity will also be available to expand into Wind, Solar, RNG, and Thermal portfolio.- Apply a variety of standard problem-solving techniques for resolving technical issues associated with the operation, maintenance and repair of various power generation assets.- Apply sound technical judgement in decision making, utilizing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various internal and external sources.- Critically review, analyze, interpret and summarize a variety of technical reports and documentation related to hydropower generation assets and systems.- Provide engineering technical guidance and assistance to junior professionals within the Operations Engineering Dept or lead role in a multi-disciplined technical caseGeneral:- User-level knowledge and experience with document management systems (e.g. SharePoint), procedures, filing systems.- React to changes in work assignments and priority and undertake all other tasks as assigned.Education and Experience- Bachelor #39;s Degree or equivalent- 3+ years of previous relevant experience- Certification in Project Management (PMI) and Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation highly preferred- Great communication skills in both Frenchamp; EnglishAlgonquin Poweramp; Utilities Corp. is a growing renewable energy and utility company with over $15 billion of assets across North America and internationally.For more than 30 years, Algonquin has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering clean energy and water solutions.
