Job Description

STELIA North America designs, develops and manufactures advanced composite products, structures, assemblies and tooling for the aerospace and defense industry, mainly for the North American and European markets.Headquartered in Lunenburg (NS), STELIA North Americas main facility consists of 150,000 sq.ft dedicated to operations and administration. Its secondary site is located in Mirabel (QC) with a 32,000 sq.ft facility.STELIA North America aims at delivering state-of-the-art quality and operational to aerospace, defence and space customers such as Northrop Grumman, Bombardier, Airbus Atlantic, ATR, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Spirit, De Havilland, ARDE, MDA, etc.STELIA North America is part of Airbus Atlantic, an Airbus wholly-owned subsidiary positioned at the heart of Airbus industrial system. Airbus Atlantics mission is to drive competitiveness with the flexibility, speed, simplicity and agility of an aerostructure Tier-1. Airbus Atlantic counts 13,000 employees in 5 countries and 3 continents as of January 1st 2022.Primary purpose:

  • Responsible for all the necessary operations related to the assembly of simple to complex and/or structural parts.
  • Maintain high quality levels.
Accountabilities:
  • Assemble, fit, and install composite components, prefabricated parts, metal details and/or sub-assemblies to build simple to complex and/or structural assemblies, such flaps, stabilizers, sponsons, cockpits, etc.
  • Hand measuring, drilling, countersinking, shaving, reaming, and riveting
  • Installation of solid and mechanically locking fasteners.
  • Bonding, application of manual solvent, sealant, conductive chemical conversion treatment, paint touch-up, part marking
  • Use hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment as required, such as cranes and forklifts to fit and install parts and sub-assemblies (if trained)
  • Verify own work for compliance with instructions and quality of work.
  • Identify nonconforming parts, conditions, and manufacturing processes.
  • Repair simple to complex assemblies per engineering instructions.
  • Support development activities and onboarding of new programs.
  • Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Work from technical documents and drawings with minimal guidance
  • Support other groups, in particular quality or tooling teams (e.g., in-process inspections)
  • Support coaching and training less experienced assembly staff as needed
  • Support scheduling, tech leaders/PTL as required.
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation according to regulatory standards and policies and procedures.
  • Meeting schedule and production requirements.
  • Perform timely and accurate transactions on the ERP system.
  • Must always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the plant floor, such as safety glasses, safety shoes and ear plugs.
  • Understand, follow, and promote all health and safety procedures
  • Must be physically fit, capable of heavy lifting up to 50lbs, energetic, agile
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 diploma and professional diploma (in structural or mechanical assembly preferred) with a minimum of 3 years of experience OR Grade 12 with minimum of 6 years of experience (in aeronautics or mechanical assembly preferred) OR equivalent (e.g. 10+ years of experience in aeronautics or mechanical assembly preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or manufacturing/engineering doc.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, proficiency using hand tools.
  • Sharp mind and strong attention to detail
