We encourage all qualified persons to apply, particularly Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized people, and people with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, and others who share our values and contribute to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.The Community Facilitator works cooperatively with the Red Cross team in Manitoba, community leaders and stakeholders, to facilitate culturally competent and inclusive services and programs, while encouraging partnerships between other Indigenous agencies and the Canadian Red Cross.In this role you will:

  • Facilitate workshops and group discussions, respond to questions and comments, guide and monitor discussions, assess assignments
  • Communicate consistently and openly with Community Programs Manager regarding all aspects of training: preparation, learning environment, learning challenges, participant issues, and evaluations
  • Liaise with Indigenous community leadership, service providers, and members to ensure CRC services are meeting expectations.
  • Coordination of workshops and trainings such as sending invitations, collecting registrations, and shipping of participant materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date information related to community profiles
  • Identify gaps in resources and information, make recommendations and facilitate ongoing implementation of best practices.
  • Support participants throughout the learning process.
  • Identify and provide resources, tools and awareness around the topics being delivered, thus fostering a culture that recognizes the value and importance of making connections and/or recommending referrals through workshops, information sessions, etc.
  • Participate in the ongoing mentorship and professional development process as outlined by CRC guidelines.
  • Model practices around self-care and caring for others during and between community visits and activations.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Experience working in rural, remote and northern communities
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Attends special training sessions and upgrade training as required
  • Previous deployment experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, facilitation skills, listening and questioning skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal English language skills. French and Indigenous languages an asset.
  • Demonstrates an empathetic and positive attitude toward those in community
  • Adapts well in high stress situations
  • Maintains strict confidentiality & upholds privacy and protection legislation
Working conditions:
  • Travel to remote and northern Indigenous communities will be required. These deployments can involve working in environments that are unstable and with unpredictable access to basic services. The work requires irregular hours, including week-ends and holidays without limited notice.
  • Please note that there is no relocation package for this position.
  • This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record, reference check, valid provincial driver’s license, and First Aid certification (training provided). The Canadian Red Cross Society is an equal opportunity employer.
