Educational Assistant to train as a Teacher atJack River School. The successful candidate will assist teachers in the Early and Middle Years classroomsconcentrating in the English Language Arts, mathematics, and science subject areas. Student teachingwill be combined with Educational Assistant duties from September to March and the successfulcandidate shall be prepared to participate in a practicum at another school to broaden his/her teachingexperiences. The successful candidate must be able to handle the academic rigor of university coursesoffered through The Program for the Education of Native Teachers (P.E.N.T.) at Brandon Universitybeginning in April 2022. The successful candidate must also be prepared to take courses through adistance delivery platform.QUALIFICATIONS:Interested applicants must meet the following qualifications: Be a local resident of the community. Have a high school or mature student diploma. Preferably be employed or have employment experience as an Educational Assistant. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Positive role model. Demonstrated work history – reliable and punctual. Interest and aptitude in literacy, numeracy, science, and technology areas. Ability to work collaboratively as a school team member in a professional manner under theguidance of teachers and administrators. Willingness to participate in co-curricular activities. Interest and commitment to P.E.N.T. training (5 to 6 year program). Availability to study at Brandon University during the months of April to July, and will be required tocomplete distance education courses during the school year.
