Job Description

Cornerstone Co-op invites applications for the position of Food Store Manager to join our team on a full-time basis at our location in Mannville, AB. Reporting to the Associate Director of Consumer Operations.What you’ll do:

  • Engage and interact with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences.
  • Model the way of demonstrating day-to-day behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, brand and focus on safety.
  • Lead the annual planning, goal setting, budgeting & corporate talent management processes for the Food Store
  • Be responsible for communication, planning, organizing, implementation, and execution of business operations at the Food Store.
  • Be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Food Store Team in all areas of People, Financial, Market Growth, Sustainability, Operational Excellence & Safety.
  • Be motivated to growing the business and committed to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, professional standards and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead the annual planning, goal setting, budgeting, and corporate talent management processes for the Food Store.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal & external customers and team members, while ensuring that the administrative requirements of the role are maintained on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure employee development and succession planning is a high priority.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Associate Director of Consumer Operations.

Why it matters: We need you to lead outstanding Co-op experiences.Who you are as a leader:
  • Great communication skills
  • You have 3+ years of experience in a retail environment with 1-2 years of Management experience
  • Retail experience in a competitive and complex environment is preferred
  • Experience within the Co-op Retailing System, or in a retail Food Store would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the local business environment would be an asset
  • Demonstrated initiative and drive for results
  • Skills in the areas of: Strategic planning and executing production as well as implementing continuous improvement / changes to procedures / processes
  • Ability to handle multiple demands – adaptable, organized, efficient and committed
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Computer skills are required – Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including Monday-Saturday, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis
