You can also visit us on Indeed and Glassdoor.Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter | TikTokDetailed OverviewReporting to the Manager, Clinical Operations or designate, provides input into program activities and performs a variety of duties to assist with the social/recreational program in Residential Care Services such as group and individual activity programs and bus outings; operates a passenger transportation vehicle with a seating capacity of between 11 and 25 passengers including the driver; maintains related activity and maintenance records, as required.ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Recreation Therapist, carries out individual and group activities such as table games, current events, sports activities, music, special events and community outings; organizes and maintains program activity areas. Provides input and feedback with respect to program activities at regular planning meetings such as resident participation during activities. Accompanies residents and/or transports one or more passengers by operating a vehicle and/or bus with a seating capacity between 11 and 25 passengers, including the driver on community outings, as required. Checks residents have appropriate clothing/equipment for activities; confirms and coordinates proposed activity with nursing/medical staff; assists in embarking and disembarking passengers from the bus. Participates in team conferences, staff meetings, in-service education and provides input to resident care conferences. Organizes materials required for programs; maintains inventory of equipment, tools and materials and reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the Recreation Therapist. Accesses resident comfort funds for outings and shopping; completes documentation relating to use of resident monies. Provides direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrates related techniques as required. Provides a variety of routine inspection/maintenance duties on vehicles and equipment; recommends vehicle and/equipment repairs as required; maintains related log books as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceGrade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses such as handicrafts plus two (2) years #39; recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Valid Class IV Driver #39;s License (unrestricted) and/or Class III Driver #39;s License with air brake endorsement as required per vehicle(s).Skills and Abilities
