Job Description

Indigenous Design AdvisorMoncton, NBDiamond Schmitt Architects (DSA) and EXP Engineering and Architectural Services (EXP) are supporting the redesign and construction of the Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre (ASEC). ASEC is a federal building that was built in the 1950 #39;s and is home to labs and science facilities that serve the Atlantic region.The redesign of the ASEC Building is a significant project located in the heart of Moncton where the Federal Government, with the design and construction teams, is looking for intensive collaboration with Indigenous communities, employees, and partners in the region. This new approach to inclusion requires significant collaboration from everyone involved with the project and the design team (DSA and EXP) needs help with design related work as well as connecting with Indigenous communities. This project is estimated to take about 10 years and offers a full-time position to support the team and act as a liaison between the teams and the communities.This position will support design related work as well as assist in the coordination related to the Indigenous community and partners connected with the site. This is a dynamic position that will allow a candidate to blend a number of skills and experience while allowing them to learn and grow into some of the requirements of the project. This position is dedicated for an Indigenous person with preference for that person to be from and connected to local Indigenous communities in New Brunswick.Are you ready to design your futureBe our next Indigenous Design AdvisorYour work environment at EXPIn this role, you will be a part of the Design team, of the Architecture Group, based in Moncton, NB office and have the opportunity to work on the redesign and construction of the Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre (ASEC).What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Depending on candidates qualifications, assist in the design activities of the project.
  • Communicating plans, actions, risks, and issues with key stakeholders
  • Helping to identify and solve any issues that may arise during the project with particular attention to impacts on the indigenous communities
  • Managing and building relationships with multiple teams and Indigenous communities
  • Assisting the Design Team with administrative functions and processes
  • Analyzing project data and producing progress reports
  • Organizing and communicating with Indigenous partners, communities and stakeholders
  • Act as an assistant liaison between design team and Indigenous participants and partners
  • Help present the project to various audiences and attend networking events, career fairs, or any other events planned in connection with the ASEC project
  • Support other projects the design team is working on, when possible
What your experience looks like
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary workplace
  • Highschool diploma, preferred
  • Construction Experience, recommended
  • Project Management experience, an asset
  • Pursuing, intent to pursue, or have completed a technical degree (architecture, engineering, project management), a strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible communication styles, able to switch from technical teams to non-technical teams
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Comfortable presented information to small groups and with audiences we varied backgrounds
  • Basic understanding and capability with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Able to adapt to changing environments, priorities, timelines and deadlines
