It fuels our innovation and connects us closer to the community we serve.Job DescriptionOur Public Works team delivers essential services to the community that we all rely on as part of our daily lives and maintains the Citys infrastructure for these services. The team takes care of the solid waste collection (garbage, recycling and compost), street signs, and snow removal, and they maintain our parks, the cemetery and the airport. They maintain our sidewalks, roads, underground pipes system to collect sewer and wastewater, and the equipment and vehicles they use. They also work to provide residents with clean and safe water and respond to emergencies at all hours, such as water leaks.Superintendent, Public WorksReporting to the Director, Public Works and Engineering Services, the Superintendent will lead change, align and foster a culture that makes Public Works a great place to work and positions the division to meet operational objectives.In this role, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Public Works division, staffing, training and developing others, and the health and safety of the division.You will oversee the Citys infrastructure, deploy work plans, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with government regulations, City Bylaws and policies, the health and safety program and other relevant legislation.In addition, you will shape key operational priorities for the department and develop operational plans and strategies based on Councils direction.With your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will build relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to plan for a sustainable future and solve complex challenges.QualificationsThis is a multi-faceted role, ideal for a strategic and operational leader with deep industry knowledge and sound judgment, who is flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment while leading and inspiring others to achieve results.The ideal candidate possesses:
