This position will hold responsibilities in Healthamp; Safety, Claims Management, Wellness Programs, Ergonomics, fostering the safety culture among many other tasks.Key Responsibilities:- Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees- Completes job hazard/ergonomic assessments by recognizing and evaluating hazards and working with key stakeholders to develop preventative measures/corrective actions.- Auditing and evaluating current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.- Supports Workplace Safetyamp; Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, with a focus on early and safe return to work.- Provides advice to Management and employees regarding disability management, accommodation and return to work programs.- Consults with medical consultant or employee #39;s health care provider to obtain clarification of functional/physical restrictions and limitations.- Provides education and training on EHS related programs and policies to various stakeholders- Assist with the maintenance and operation of the Health and Safety program. Reinforce safety practices and procedures, mainly within a manufacturing environment.- Leads the Occupational Healthamp; Wellness program and promotes a positive safety culture.- Ensures professional knowledge is current, with any changes in Legislation and associated Standards.- Provides guidance and direction in EHS policies and procedures at the Supervisor/employee level to ensure a common and effective approach.- Assists in the development, assessment and revision of EHS policies and procedures- Assists with data collection, analysis on EHS related programs and record retention.- Assists the EHS Manager in planning corporate business plan/budget and making recommendations to respond to new legislative requirements, and for programs and services.- Contributes to the Joint Health and Safety Committee and other company programs as necessary.- Other tasks as assigned.Technical Requirementsamp; Education:- Minimum of 3-5 years #39; work experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) related position within a manufacturing environment.- Professional EHS designation (e.g. EP,CRSP, AE, CET) is considered a strong asset- Knowledge of processing and managing WSIB claims.- Previous involvement working with Ontario health and safety regulations.- Experience with conducting job hazard/ergonomic assessments.- Exposure to multi-site environment considered an asset.- Effective verbal and written communicator at all levels in the organization- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, along with various other software functions.- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, as well as managing a large amount of information at one time.- Has previous experience with employee wellness programs, health promotion activities, awareness campaigns, etc.- Ability to establish and foster continued employee trust enhancing the safety culture.Raytheon ELCAN offers a competitive compensation package that includes incentive program, benefits, and pension plan.
