Job Description

METALLURGISTPermanent positionPosition to fill 1Code CO22-14Deadline to apply November 16, 2022The work location is at Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 4 weeks: 2 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 2 weeks for rest.privileges & benefits

Future challengesReporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the metallurgist will be responsible for monitoring plant metallurgical performance and participating in the development of new projects and/or existing plant improvements projects. Its main responsibilities are:
  • Perform studies to improve performance in different sectors (crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, filtration);
  • Execute specific mandates on new plant optimization projects;
  • Organize, coordinate, conduct plant and laboratory tests and analyze the data collected;
  • Provide technical support to surface water treatment plants and water management;
  • Ensure the quality of metallurgical accounting: plant balance sheet, data reconciliation;
  • Maintain communication of control plans, guidelines and operating procedures with production and maintenance teams;
  • Ensure supervision of technicians and interns;
  • Coordinate activities with other departments: mining, service, engineering, etc.
Profile required
  • Bachelors degree in mining engineering, metallurgical, chemical engineering or equivalent;
  • 2-5 years’ experience in ore processing;
  • Ability to identify and diagnose problems encountered in the various stages of the process; Excellent analytical, synthesis and communication skills;
  • Experience on flotation circuits and water treatment is an asset.
Nice to have
  • Bilingualism (French and functional English);
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software.
