Job Description

OPEN PIT MINER CLASS 1Permanent position – UnionizedPosition to fill 1Code MI22-30Hourly rate 39,41$Deadline to apply August 15th 2022The work location is at Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 6 weeks: 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks for rest.Privileges & benefits

Future challengesReporting to the Mine Supervisor, the class 1 miner will operate mainly the loading equipment. He may also be required to operate heavy equipment used at the mine. His mains responsibilities are:
  • He performs the tasks according to the safety standards in force (Road safety and Health and Safety Act Mine and Quarry);
  • He does the inspection of the equipment before and after his shift;
  • If necessary, he perform all other tasks requested by the supervisor.

  • Have worked at least 8 000 hours as a heavy equipment operator including 2000 hours on hydraulic excavators (385-390), 2000 hours on wheel loaders (998-990);
  • Must be able to operate at least 2 of the following equipment:
    • 2000 hours on production trucks;
    • 2000 hours on graders;
    • 2000 hours on the dozer on caterpillar;
  • Posses a high school diploma (DES);
  • Hold a valid general explosive permit is essential;
  • Hold a valid driving license is essential;
  • Have successfully completed a heavy equipment training or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
  • Hold a driving license class 1 (an asset);
  • Good knowledge of prevention mechanical is an asset;
  • Bilingualism (French and functional English);
