Job Description

Underground blaster helper - Miner U/G Class 3a (Production)Permanent position – UnionizedPosition to fill 4Code MI22-33Hourly rate 38,47 $Deadline to apply November 10, 2022The work location is at Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 6 weeks: 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks for rest.Privileges & benefits

Future challengesReporting to the Supervisor, the Blasters Helper will be required to support the blaster during loading operations in the mine. He will also be required to operate some of the heavy machinery used in the mine department as directed by the supervisor. His main responsibilities are: Accomplish all explosive loading tasks assigned by the blaster in charge, according to the norms and standards in force.
  • Perform all explosives loading tasks assigned by the blaster in charge, according to the norms and standards in effect;
  • Assist the blaster in the supervision of employees working on the loading docks;
  • Ensure that the inventory of explosive and non-explosive products is maintained on the loading docks;
  • Ensure the inspection of his equipment before and after his shift;
  • If necessary, he will assume the duties of a blaster;
  • As needed, he/she will perform any other duties as requested by his/her supervisor.
Profile required
  • Be able to operate a CAT AD30 mine truck, CAT 420F backhoe, jeep landcruiser
  • Possess a General Explosives permit;
  • Possess a high school diploma;
  • Familiarity with electronic initiation systems is an asset
  • Possess FMTM mining modules 1 to 5 and 7
  • 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Bilingualism (French and functional English) is an asset
