Job Description

PAYROLL TECHNICIANPermanent positionposition to fill 1Code RH22-33The place of work is in Montrealdeadline to apply November 16, 2022The normal work schedule is 9 hours a day, including the equivalent meal period at 40 hours per week.Privileges & benefits

ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director of Human Resources, the technician will be responsible for:
  • Performing the creation of new employee files, corrections and special payments;
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and documents;
  • Prepare and balance payroll;
  • Processing benefit forms and paperwork (vacation, parental leave, sickness, group insurance & pension funds);
  • Prepare job terminations, Records of Employment, T4s and R1s;
  • Participate in the verification of data at each pay period;
  • Complete month and end of the year for payroll;
  • Participate in employee on-boarding and integration in collaboration with Human Resources by providing training on the timesheet tool
  • Provide a single point of contact for employees and answer their questions regarding their payroll, benefits and timesheet;
  • Participate in the optimization of the payroll process, file opening and file modifications with the Human Resources department;
  • Stay up to date with labor standards regarding payroll and changes in taxes and applicable laws.
  • Respond to supervisors on the application of payroll rules when approving timesheets or any other questions;
  • Provide reports and analysis;
  • Document payroll processes, and propose improvements to the supervisor on an ongoing basis;
  • Perform all other payroll administrative duties.
Qualifications
  • Diploma (college or university) in administration or human resources, or in an appropriate discipline;
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in payroll management;
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and MS Office suite;
  • Must be available for occasional travel to the mine site (Nunavik)
  • Bilingualism (French-English).
Assets
  • Have worked with ADP payroll system;
  • Hold an accreditation from the Canadian Payroll Association.
