Job Description

Job DescriptionA Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for completing the following duties:SAFETY

  • Maintain the safety program and coordinate training efforts for our Division.
  • Comply with OSHA, MSHA, MPCA/EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Contribute weekly safety updates to Management.
  • Work with Workers Compensation issues to ensure appropriate return to work and prompt settlement of claims.
  • Work jointly and collaboratively with Operations to improve safety and reduce Health and Safety related concerns.
  • Maintain an accident investigation program to prevent recurrence of incidents and to ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across all locations. Revise procedures as appropriate.
  • Conduct (or coordinate) on-site reviews and audits of operations for assigned locations.
  • Direct implementation of strategies to effectively resolve Health and Safety issues.
  • Actively participate as a resource for the Safety Committees.
  • Create and maintain a culture reflective of a commitment to an illness and injury -free workplace.
  • Stay familiar with current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position.
  • Travel as necessary to support other locations.
    • Conduct New Employee orientation
    • Oversee safety training programs.
    • Conduct new employee safety training on relevant OSHA topics.
    • Conduct monthly safety training on relevant OSHA topics.
  • Safety policies are updated and in accordance with provincial and federal laws.
  • Safety training and development needs of all staff are being met.
  • Compliance with environmental laws is maintained.
  • Safety documentation and annual training is kept current
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALITY
  • Responsible for the quality of the products at the branch level
  • Identify improvement opportunities, implement and maintain the quality program
  • Identify, review, training and audit standard work
  • Conduct product audits through the checklist system
  • Identify needed checklists and monitor checklist usage at designated branch
  • Quality case management; reviewing trends, identifying priorities, assignments, follow ups, and closure
  • Evaluating case closure for good sustainable corrective action on critical and urgent priority cases
  • Maintain process audit weekly schedule
  • Evaluate outside vendors and outsourcing shops
  • Ability to make decisions regarding the quality of the product
  • Calibrate measuring and test equipment
  • Control costs, such as rework, scrap, and warranty
  • Facilitate receiving inspections if conducted within the branch
  • Identify major quality projects based on trends and facilitate project until completion
  • Ensure compliance with all QC programs and federal requirements
Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant safety and environment laws
  • Relevant education and/or experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and orally
  • Superb organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office, Windows-based software, and Google
