Job Description

Job DescriptionA Yardman is responsible for completing the following duties:

  • Maintain outside materials and equipment handling needs
  • Snow removal and winter maintenance of yard area
  • Inform supervisor of progress on a regular, predetermined basis
  • Complete tasks within predefined parameters according to job needs
  • Work area and equipment are clean and orderly, well-maintained
  • Use forklift, overhead crane, and shunt truck to move and position parts, subassemblies, and completed equipment
  • Keep yard organized and free of extra pallets, steel, etc.
  • Perform necessary outside final assembly, inspections and staging as needed
  • Work with outbound and inbound truck freight loading and unloading
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Understanding of basic “in-shop” assembly routines
  • Knowledge of safe operating and lifting procedures for all equipment
  • Read 1/8”, 1/16”, and 1/32” gradations on tape measure
  • Convert feet / inches
  • Forklift experience/certificate
  • Class 1 drivers license not necessary but would be considered an asset
  • Previous snowplowing experience considered an asset
