Interested in a hands-on learning experience, and making a significant impact on our business and the lives of our consumers There has never been a better time to join our organization, especially if you are passionate about Retail Excellence: Buying and Selling.The Quality Assurance Specialist will join Loblaw #39;s Business Enablementamp; Enterprise Procurement (BEEP) Team, a group of extraordinary procurement professionals accountable for purchasing goods on behalf of our retail divisions which represent more than 3,000 stores from coast to coast.Reporting to Sr. Manager, of Quality Assurance the successful candidate will ensure all inbound and outbound Fresh products including Produce, Meat, and Seafood meet Loblaw Companies Limited quality standards at the Distribution level. Working alongside your Quality Assurance Team, you #39;ll facilitate partner relationships, product quality and freshness, integration and compliance of policy and procedures, and much more!What You #39;ll Do:

  • Validate all inbound product consistently meets Company specifications for quality (size, weight, trim, colour, etc) by adherence to sampling and testing programs.
  • Ensure compliance with established Quality Assurance programs and policies, ensuring that all produce achieve the highest standards of quality and food safety
  • Own daily/ongoing QA audits of products (slot checks and distribution checks)
  • Investigate and detail all quality inspection findings with appropriate forms and systems (rejection reports, slot checks, QA reports, etc)
  • Continuous communication with QA Manager/Quality Assurance Team/Category Management Team/Supply Chain.
  • Collaborate as a key member of the Quality team to strategic decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct general duties, specific projects, and responsibilities as assigned in a timely and professional manner.
Role Requirements:
  • Knowledge of fresh fruits, vegetables, meatamp; seafood in regard to grades, sizes, colour including knowledge of CFIA/USDA standards is an asset
  • Digital literacy in a Windows environment: Excel, Outlook, Office 365. Knowledge of SAP and Manhattan
  • Strong ability to communicate (verbally and written) inter-departmentally and at various levels throughout the organization
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, 24/7 refrigerated warehouse environment; inspections are completed in a warehouse environment.
  • Self-motivated, detailed, analytical and organized
  • Display a continuous improvement philosophy to improve company quality assurance standards and exceptions
  • Requires ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50lbs on a repetitive basis
  • This role may require working night shifts, weekends, holidays, etc. Shifts are subject to change depending on business requirements.
