Our Engineering team provides custom design options for the latest technology in compressors, desiccant drying and purification, and controls for our customers #39; medical gas/air equipment needs. The Electrical Systems Design Engineer will design the electrical components, contol strategies, and programming for our Medical Gas/Air systems. Product innovation, provision of up-to-date information, and documentation at product release and during the life cycle of our products will be key responsibilities for this role. You will provide and maintain quality control, technical support, and service bulletin releases. The role will involve ensuring that engineering queries are dealt with in a timely manner and that any activity through the engineering change process is made efficiently and accurately. Our Engineering team members support a spirit of open communication of engineering changes throughout the organization and individuals in all areas of operation. You will also support the development of the Class 1 Inc. product and customer company into a design centre for Medical Gas Products and realize synergies between divisional group companies.YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Creation and Maintenance of Electrical Wiring Design and Specifications of Products
  • creating, updating, and maintenance of submittal, construction and as-built drawings for electrical panels and prgrammable logic systems for Class 1 Medical Gas Systems and Medical Supply Units in Inventor and AutoCAD
  • creating, updating and maintenance of product installation manuals, bills of materials (BOMs), and reporting/communicating updates related to product specifications, etc.
  • work with sales and purchasing to define equipment electrical specifications
  • creation of detailed 3D drawings to assis in product development, assembly, R amp;D projects, etc.
  • assist in cost development, working with suppliers and manufacturers to keep production costs within budget requirements
  • put forth suggestions for improvements for materials, design and processes for overall production, cost effectiveness and integrity of product line
  • support overflow mechanical design work as required
  • manage and maintain Class 1 #39;s CSA industrial control panel certification and UL product line
  1. Programming and Testing
  • program and/or review panel and control for Medical Gas Systems
  • work with design team to implement new control strategies for latest and future generations of Class 1 systems
  • conduct tests and analyze machines, parts, materials, and processes to assess performance, quality and practicality of design
  • recommend and implement improvements or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
  • be a technical resource for Service Technician team, customers, and other colleagues for programmable logic and control systems (PLCs) built at Class 1
  • Bacnet, routers, IP/network configurations and site setups
  • program VSDs, HMIs, sensors, and panel metors
  1. Innovation Projects
  • identify and keep track of all time/materials spent on R amp;D for any new products/processes
  • review, analyze, and thouroughly understand all plans and specifications in order to verify product requirements, suitability and compliance with current applicable codes and regulatory requirements
  • communicate with contractors, consulting engineers, architechts, and hospital personnel by phone, in person or via email as required in order to ensure complete and thorough understanding by all parties of the scope of project and what we propose to supply and innovate
  1. Communication and Planning
  • coordinate and expidite design, construction, installation, shop drawings, specifications, manuals, start-up checklists and other reports as required to ensure on-time project success
  • ensure complete maintenance of design and customer files for all current and past projects
  • network with other departments to provide support, materials, and expertise for interdivisional projects
  • report any known missing/defective equipment, protective device, or hazard to direct management and Quality Assurance and update a Non-Conforming Materials (NCM) report
  • work with the regulatory team to identify solutions for Corrective Action Reports (CARs) in Quality Management System (QMS) that will support effectivity
TO SUCCEED, YOU WILL NEED...The successful candidate for this position will be a systematic, perceptive, and organized individual with excellent communication skills both written and oral. This person will have a high sense of urgency, responsiveness, and be customer service oriented.QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering program
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in an electical design and PLC programming
  • Valid Driver #39;s License and clean driver #39;s abstract may be required
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check may be required
KNOWLEDGE
  • Proficient in three-dimensional CAD drafting package (AutoCAD and Inventor)
  • Expert in CSA, UL, CEC, NEC electrical standards
  • Experience in ERP Software (SAP preferred)
  • Bilingual in Englishamp; French (speaking and writing) considered an asset
  • Knowledge of pressure systems and vessels, piped medical gas systems and associated equipment is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Capable of designing products from sketches or verbal specifications from concept to completion

TRAVEL
  • Position based at our headquarters at 565 Boxwood Dr. Cambridge, Ontario, Canada N3E 1A5
  • Periodic travel to customer sites within Canada
  • Periodic travel outside of Canada and/or continental North America may be required for training and project work
