We take great pride in supplying highly engineered solutions that allow our customers to compete within the complex nuclear power generation industry.We are recruiting for an Environmental Healthamp; Safety Specialist for our Manufacturing division in Cambridge, Ontario.ROLE SUMMARYReporting to the EHS Manager, the Environmental Healthamp; Safety Specialist (EHS Specialist) will be responsible for the company #39;s Environmental Health and Safety program, including the Nuclear Healthamp; Safety Program.ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and review health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with site, company and government regulations and legislation.
  • Lead the issue resolution process related to near miss and injury investigations; develop detailed reports based on root cause analysis, recommend solutions, assist in implementation of corrective
actions, follow-up where required. Assist with WSIB reporting and return to work as needed.
  • Proactively review work procedures and complete risk assessments where necessary. ldentify potentially hazardous situations and take proactive measures to correct them, including reviewing
reported incidents and unsafe practices.
  • Perform pre-start reviews for machine and equipment changes.
  • Aid with the implementation of ANSI Z10.
  • Work to thoroughly understand workstation processes and/or project requirements to ensure health and safety requirements have been met and are being adhered to.
  • Monitor machine and equipment changes, ensuring that health and safety precautions are considered.
  • Work with management to design programs and strategies that protect employees from workplace hazards.
  • Support in-house projects/initiatives by assisting the EHS Manager in the completion of contractor Safe Work Plans and delivering safety orientations with contractors from time to time.
  • Ensure that employee training is up to date (i.e. First Aid, WHMIS, emergency procedures, etc.) and facilitate training or coordinate third party trainers to conduct training as necessary.
  • Relay required safety information to all new hires and temporary support staff when requested.
  • Participate as a member of the Joint Healthamp; Safety Committee.
  • Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binder and ensure SDS #39; for all products on site are on hand.
  • lssue EHS Work Permits for all non-routine work.
  • Administer compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems (i.e. Gensuite, Learning Management System) for worker training, routine tasks, worker concerns, action items and event reporting.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or minimum 4 year direct EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of governing occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as government regulators.
  • Hands-on problem solver.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
