We take great pride in supplying highly engineered solutions that allow our customers to compete within the complex nuclear power generation industry.Semi Auto Welder (SAWamp; GMAW Overlay)Fully-qualified hourly rate: $35.43 - fully qualified (starts at Learner 1: $30.11/hr; Learner 2: $31.88/hr; Learner 3: $33.65)We have opportunities for you to join our production team as a Semi Auto Welder (SAWamp; GMAW Overlay) at our facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Each member of our team plays a critical role in BWXT Canada #39;s success and in ensuring we meet our customers #39; quality, cost and delivery expectations. Our employees are considered the best in the industry and we are proud of the high level of skills they demonstrate every day.PRIMARY FUNCTIONTo set-up, operate and troubleshoot GMAW Overlay and Submerged Arc Welding equipment to perform welding operations on company products to quality standards.TASKS

  • Read and interpret Production Orders, drawings SIS, WPS, plan and organize the welding process, weld consumable card, identify and verify workpiece material, settings, weld head, power source, positioners, manipulator booms, rotators, etc.
  • Perform welding to join parts such as backing bars, run-off and starting plates, grounding bolts and test bars to support own work.
  • Interpret weld beads deposited and make required adjustments to equipment.
  • Additional welder qualifications in SMAW or FCAW as required to support primary job function.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successfully completed a welding program.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints.
  • Working at height certification required.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety.
  • Previous experience with Submerge Arc Welding (SAW) or experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment would be a definite asset.
  • Must pass two (2) pre-employment weld test:
  • Manual SMAW 2G (horizontal)amp; Manual FCAW 2G (horizontal). 3/8 quot; plate test. Test is subject to a visual and bend test acceptance.
  • Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member, willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our customer expectations.
  • Must be available to work all shifts:
  • Days: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Mon - Thurs)
  • Afternoons: 4:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. (Mon - Thurs)
  • Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
  • Weekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
