Job Description

The Protectionamp; Control Specialist is based out of our Moncton office and reports directly to the Department Manager. Their primary focus is providing electrical engineering technical support to the Field Services Division. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Perform field testing and programming of various protection relays used in the power industry (GE and SEL etc.)- Be working with protection, control, metering, telecom and communication equipment in coordination with SCADA systems- Maintain or Commission Power transmission, substation and distribution equipment - ie Protection and control circuits, Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, HV Switches and breaker, GIS switchgear etc.- Interpret electrical ACamp; DC schematics, AC three-line and singer lines (EWD, CDW etc.)- Apply knowledge of NETA codes and standards used in the testing industry- Plan and deliver projects within budget and schedule, liaison with customers- Have an understanding of related electrical safety principles- Be safety conscious and gain knowledge in Electrical Safety AwarenessCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS- change Orientation- Communicates Effectively- Continuous Learing- Customer Focus- Holds Self and Others Accountable- Problem Solving and Innovation- Teamwork and Collaboration- Values and Respects Others- Maximizes Business Performance and Team EffectivenessEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree with a focus in power systems.WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Related industry experience considered an assetSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS- Excellent organization and time management skills- A self-starting personality able to work individually or as part of a high functioning team committed to the success of the organization- Exceptional technical, analytical and numerical skills- Strong interpersonal and communication skills- Commitment to customer satisfaction- A willingness to learn and grow by undertaking hands-on site- Understanding of the grid and distribution system- Understanding of protection philosophies within high voltage and low voltage systems- Strong computer skills- Experience with test equipment considered an asset (Omicron etc.)- Troubleshooting mindset - will be responsible for in depth troubleshooting of protection and control circuits. Good with reading technical manuals.- Will be required to work in an outdoor substation environment- Flexibility to work on-call hours to respond to customer emergencies- Physically fit to lift and carry electrical test equipment- Willing and able to travel in and around Atlantic Provinces- Valid Class 5 Driver #39;s license- Bilingual could be considered an asset
