We #39;re looking for a mission-driven Community Recreation Coordinator who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.Your Impact at CNIB

  • Provide hands-on tech support to people learning to use their computer or other smart devices in their home or at the CNIB Office.
  • Assist in the delivery of in-person and virtual technology training and demonstrations.
  • Conduct evaluation calls with clients who have received iPhones through our Phone It Forward program.
  • Assist with the Mobile Smart Life Centre (formerly Shop CNIB) with product demonstrations and sales Recreational Programs.
  • Support the promotion and delivery of virtual recreation programs offered by CNIB including scheduling guest speakers, developing games and activities, and hosting virtual events.
  • Assist with the delivery of July’s Summer Fun Day Camp (accommodation provided).
  • Conduct calls with clients to raise awareness of CNIB Programs and update the CNIB Database.
RequirementsWho you are:Education and Certifications
  • Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience with learning, using, and teaching various user-focused technologies.
  • Experience developing events or programs for youth or seniors is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Portray the appropriate professional image
  • An active member in the blindness community (ideally).
  • Experience developing and hosting events for children or seniors.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations.
  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines.
  • Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks
  • A driver’s license is preferred (though not required) if the candidate is not living with sight loss.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
