We are looking for a writer and editor who is passionate about helping these local businesses pull in customers through strong, authoritative, concisely written copy. This team member will write, edit, and/or improve website copy, metadata, call to action, and other components of B2C business websites in the infrastructure, housing, construction, and related fields. • This role requires people with a strong commitment to delivering by the deadline, who are comfortable working autonomously and can deliver top quality work in accordance with established Service Level Agreements, across multiple projects.
• Understand content briefs and ask the right questions to get the gist of the subject, audience, and purpose of the
• Conduct first, and third-party research on the topic over the web.
• Prepare well-structured drafts using Content Management Systems.
• Conduct simple keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic.
• Use strong writing and editing skills to create top-quality website content that will engage a B2C audience and generate leads for customers, with minimal guidance.
• Ensure that content is consistent with our standard style guide (Associated Press) and customer guidelines.
• Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone).
• Brutally edit copy for content and grammar, to achieve incisive writing that hits the mark.
• Proofread and edit posts multiple times before publishing
• Submit work to editors for input and approval.
• Be able to fulfill a full-time schedule of 40 hours/week. 9am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays.

Job Requirements

• Proven work experience as a long-form content writer and webpage
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
• Portfolio of published web pages primarily. You may additionally share samples of blogs/articles. Please share live links if possible, so we may see how your copy and layout complement each other for an optimized user experience.
• Experience doing research using first and relevant, authoritative third-party sources. Demonstrate the resources you used in your portfolio, using hyperlinks or citations within the writing samples.
• Familiarity with writing for the web and its associated tips and tricks to attract attention.
• Demonstrated ability to edit webpage copy. You may show us your editing powers with a ‘before’ and ‘after’ sample or a word document with track changes and comments enabled, to share your thought process as you change the copy from average to amazing!
• Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress), TeamWorks, and Salesforce is a plus but not essential.
• Strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
• BS in Marketing, English, Journalism, and/or relevant experience.
