Job Description

Bi-Weekly Hours: Days, Evenings, and Weekends/ 4, 8 and 12 hourshifts. Casual employees are called on short notice to relieve staffthat are on leave and unavailable to work. The number of shifts may varydepending on the worksite. We encourage underrepresented groups to join our team, be yourself, and help us achieve our vision of for an inclusive workplace and healthcare system.The Service Worker will be responsible for a variety of housekeeping, dietary, and laundry duties in various sites of long term and acute care facilities. Duties to be carried out with a safety, teamwork and person and family-centered focus. Duties may include: Housekeeping – maintain assigned areas in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition by performing various cleaning and sanitizing duties. These duties will include cleaning patient rooms and common areas, washing walls, windows, scrubbing and waxing floors, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming carpets.Dietary – serving and assisting with the preparation of meals for patients, residents and staff while maintaining high standards of etiquette and sanitation. Duties will include preparing dining room, serving meals, providing snacks, cleaning dishes, sanitizing kitchen areas, and delivering meal trays.Laundry – performing routine duties associated with the processing of laundry and other related duties in the Laundry Department. These duties will include using industrial washers and dryers, sorting and distributing clean clothing and linens, picking up and sorting soiled linens and clothing.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: - Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12.- Capable of sustained physical activity. - Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.- Able to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions. - Have a good previous work and attendance record.- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment.Important Notes: Covid-19 Immunization: Notice to all External Applicants.
