Job Description

We are seeking to hire a talented and experienced 3D environment artist to create the complete 3D visual component for the first map in our latest MMORPG project called Pirate Raids Online. You’ll combine your artistic and technical talents to form the physical features that define the environment that players will experience in the fantasy-adventure world of Pirate Raids Online.Job responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design and narrative teams to understand the game’s creative and artistic visions;
  • Study concept art & narrative guidelines in addition to researching your own references to prototype features such as buildings, terrain, and many other scenery props;
  • Produce high-quality organic and hard surface models and texture maps based on concept art and reference materials, including interpreting abstract ideas;
  • Find balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints to achieve aesthetic quality and technical functionality;
  • Present work in a turntable style environment with acceptable lighting for progress reviews and approval (including scale reference);
  • Ensure the consistency of UV mapping and polygonal subdivisions;
  • Work closely with the design and art directors to ensure that your geo (and textures maps) are working as they should be in Unity and address mesh fixes as required;
  • Optimize the topology of environment assets in their scene so the environment runs at a manageable frame rate;
  • Map out scenery elements and props that help drive the story of the game.
Job qualifications:
  • 2 or more years of experience in 3D environment art for video games;
  • 2 or more years of experience in working with Unity;
  • High level education in 3D environment art;
  • Familiarity with the VFX pipeline and the Unity game development pipeline;
  • Strong knowledge of geography, architecture, and the laws of physics;
  • High-level drawing skills
  • Able to interpret and follow reference material to create clean, detailed, and accurate 3D environments and sets;
  • Real-world understanding of proportion, depth, scale, and physical space;
  • Ability to imagine expansive worlds that characters and objects can interact and move around in.
  • Have a passion for video games.
