BRP is seeking a Data Protection Steward who will be responsible for establishing and managing the data governance capabilities around Data Protection policies, Data Classifications, Data Discovery, Data Inventory and Data Privacy Management. This includes performing business process analysis, identifying gaps and inefficiencies, and proposing solutions and plans to streamline, while respecting compliance, privacy, confidentiality and security policies. This is an exciting opportunity to drive activities that will leverage the value of our data to support innovation, revenue growth, and increased efficiency through effective management of our data assets.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDuties and responsibilities generally include but are not limited to:Defining and implementing the organizational structures and operating models needed to support the objectives of the data governance and data privacy-protection program.Growing data literacy and data maturity across the organization through effective communication strategies and training to build core data proficiencies in data-related and business roles.Partnering with members of the legal team to ensure full alignment on all current and upcoming data privacy regulations, including our responsibilities and obligations.Supporting requirements related to legal, security, privacy, and compliance aspects of data (PIA, data classification, legal requirements, regulatory compliance, etc.).Assisting with the development and maintenance of data policies and standards to support program objectives; establishing and implementing process governance related to data privacy and protection.Serving as a subject matter expert on data privacy-protection to present complex business challenges, impacts and programs to Management and IT leaders.Participating in projects to provide expertise and advise on the framework of data privacy and protection guidelines and standards, including governance processes on data privacy and protection assessment, as well as the monitoring and validation approach.Providing coaching (to mentor and develop junior staff) in support of Data Privacy and Protection, developing and executing long-term plans for complex projects.Articulating the importance of customer privacy and promoting privacy up and down the management chain, including audiences who have varying levels of familiarity with the topic.Supporting management and operation of the Data Governance Office, including the data stewardship organization and various committees and councils.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSA Bachelors degree in business technology, information systems or a related study, or equivalent related project experience.5+ years of experience in the field of Data Governance with a focus on data privacy and protection.Experienced with data catalogue and inventory with contextual information on data elements, data governance rule definition, determining lineage & retention policies, data protection, data provisioning, data sharing, or data stewardship.Experienced in data discovery, insider threat, data policies, standards and classifications.Experienced with data to cloud migration, including design, planning and execution.Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, Privacy Act Canada, Bill 64, etc. and its latest information is preferred.Knowledge of data loss prevention, SOC, or cybersecurity operations with specific understanding of the tactics, techniques and procedures is preferred.Familiarity with Data Governance and Privacy platforms such as Colibra, Alation, OneTrust, etc. is preferred.Knowledge of linking technical elements (Data Models) to business elements (Business process mapping) is preferred.Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects; issue management experience.A strong ability to work in undiscovered, unstructured territories and formalize processes that are currently not formalized.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence and orient business and technical audiences toward a common goal that is satisfying for all stakeholders.Strong analytical skills and experience working with Key Performance Indicators.Attention to detail and the ability to deliver a mandate with great autonomy – self-driven.Bilingualism, spoken and written (French and English).ASSETSKnowledge of data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).Records and Information Management certification.Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C).A Master’s Degree.WELCOME TO BRPWe’re a world leader in recreational vehicles and boats, creating innovative ways to move on snow, water, asphalt, dirt and even in the air.
