Job Description

FX & Metal Hedger and Inventory ControllePosition : FX & metal hedger and Inventory controllerOrganization

  • Function : FX & metal hedging and inventory control
  • Country : Canada
  • Location : Montreal
  • Supervisor : Finance Manager
Purpose (Sum up the position using one or two sentences)
  • Ensure implementation of adequate tools for internal control and risk management (metal &FX)
  • Ensure production is adequately followed in SAP
  • Perform adequate analysis in order to support the Finance Manager and other departments.
Areas of responsibility (Use active verbs to define areas of responsibility and especially the weight of each responsibility: “Manage”, “Support”, “Participate”; “Is responsible for”, “Is in charge of”, “Promote”, “Contribute” etc.)Copper Purchase order (10%)
  • Executor of Copper purchases as per spot and annual contracts (creation of monthly purchase order, maintain business relationship with copper suppliers)
  • In charge of validating pricing for scrap purchased every month.
  • Key contact for suppliers of cathodes and scrap to confirm volumes, pricing period and purchase order every month.
  • Update SAP with MHR (Metal Hedge Request) and CHA (Currency Hedge Agreement) and ensure all data are consistent.
Metal & FX hedging (40%):
  • Day to day analysis of FX and metal position (in liaise with other departments) to provide adequate FX and metal hedging in order to close net open position,
  • Key contact for sales department to hedge spot businesses on time (sales or purchases).
  • In contact, daily, with Central teams in Paris to perform FX and metal hedging.
  • Ensure integrity of tools used for FX and metal hedging (Daily-T).
  • Analysis of the monthly FX result and metal hedge result.
Production follow up and Inventory Control (25%):
  • On a daily basis: follow production from SAP reports, update excel report for production department and ensure consistency of data in liaise with all departments.
  • In contact with all departments to ensure stock movements processes are correctly understood and followed.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts twice a year with all participants (approx. 30 persons involved). Reconcile and report physical inventory variances to senior management and external auditors.
  • Assess inventory control procedures and make necessary improvements as required.
Copper scrap sales (5%)
  • Lead the scrap sales process
  • Evaluation and select the customers to obtain the best selling price and insurance coverage
with limited risk
  • In charge of following stock of scrap (approx. 450T per year) and deal with scrap dealers to perform the sale.
Support to Finance Manager (20%):
  • Provide different journal entries/accruals for Month end process
  • Provide adequate and regular analysis to support the business decision and Directors (inbound freight, outbound freight, direct costs, etc).
Required skills and qualifications (Management and function competencies regarding available Nexans models, personal attributes, education, experience)
  • Bachelor in Finance or Accounting
  • Strong knowledge on SAP and modules or any other ERPs
  • Strong knowledge on Excel (advanced level)
  • Good communication skills
  • Analytical Skills
  • Pro Active
  • French and English speaking required
  • Finance oriented
  • Experience in hedging is an asset
  • Experience in industrial company, understanding of the inventory cost component (min.3 years)
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, experience with a multinational company
