We provide and implement professional innovative support services to individuals, communities, para-public and public organizations. We also develop and run health, education, socio-culture, and community economic development programs.Position OverviewReporting to the Project Coordinator the the Junior Project Animator is responsible for assistng with creation and implementation of a series of interactive legal workshops that aims to familiarize youth as well as the larger community about their legal rights and responsibilities when interacting with the various systems in society. Working with a team, the Animator will be responsible for helping to create and carrying out school and community based workshops focused on legal awareness, regarding crime, laws, rights, obligations and how to access channels to resolve grievances.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research, creation, planning, scheduling and implementation of a series activities including the preparation of updated legal-based workshops and materials, for in-class(or online) workshops and Community based workshops.
  • Assist in the animation of legal-based in-class(or online) and Community based workshops
  • Review workshop contents and other educational materials
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating consultations and meetings
  • Assist in collecting data from workshops/meetings and preparing reports on a regular basis
  • Assist with the creation of a comprehensive communication and promotion strategy
  • Facilitating community engagement and outreach in locations such as community centres, schools, community organizations and online.
  • Communicating on a constant basis with the Project Coordinator, providing weekly reports as needed.
  • Communicating with program participants on a weekly basis to provide program updates and inform participants of upcoming meetings and events.
  • Assisting with the creation of content for the projects social media pages.
  • Assist in organizing information and content for publication in Newsletters
  • Ensure project activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner that adhere to all Covid-19 Guidelines.
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in law, social work, paralegal studies or other relevant area of study.
  • An understanding of the legal issues and/or access to justice challenges facing Black and other minority communities, including systemic racism and anti-black racism.
  • Awareness of animation principles in community development practice
  • A strong understanding of, and commitment to, anti-oppression principles and an awareness of the various intersections of social identities.
  • Knowledge of community development and community outreach strategies and tools
  • Ability to engage with individuals from multiple access points (social networks, faith communities, community groups, and other organizations)
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and age
  • Competency in both official languages essential (English & French)
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Can work with a team and support project activities as needed
  • Willingness to travel throughout the community for in person workshops or events
  • Experience in recruitment of participants (an asset)
  • Experience facilitating online,or in person workshops (an asset)
  • Experience with social media & web content or blogging
