Job Description

Do you enjoy science knowledge translation Are you eager to share your passion for science and writing We are looking for a talented teammate to join IC Axon in the role of Medical Writer in our Content department.Job SummaryThe Medical Writer develops content for medical training projects for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Collaborating under the direction of a Medical Editor, the project content is developed and referenced according to the project specifications and in partnership with other departments.Responsibilities

  • Writes medical, scientific, and strategic training program content for a variety of projects according to client specifications
  • References materials according to internal SOPs and client specifications
  • Works with the project’s Editor to ensure that content follows client specifications, is instructionally sound, scientifically valid, well organized, and grammatically correct
  • Researches medical and client material to ensure content accuracy and relevance
  • Collaborates with Graphic Artists to produce visuals to complement script
  • Partners with Developers and Graphics Artists to write interactive eLearning storyboards
  • Works with all team members and departments to produce a uniform project
  • Assists in carrying out various duties as requested by Content management
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Medical/Life Sciences field or equivalent (eg, Bio-Medical field)
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience
  • Outstanding proficiency in English (both written and oral); working knowledge of French
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (intermediate or advanced)
Assets
  • Knowledge or formal training in medical or scientific writing
  • Prior experience in medical writing
  • Knowledge of Instructional Design principles
  • Teaching experience
  • Knowledge of AMA style guide
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Membership in a writing association
  • Experience in multimedia writing

  • Autonomous (can execute tasks with minimal supervision)

  • Ability to work with various Editors and on various client projects
  • Advancing on understanding of project life cycle and deliverables
  • Demonstrating an organized approached to the work and additional tasks with an aptitude for establishing priorities

  • Missing deadlines and reduced quality in work
  • Difficulty consistently following SOPs
  • Difficulty in prioritizing and completing assignments
  • Need for ongoing supervision
