Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Position Summary:Postdoctoral Position in Oxidative Mechanochemistry: We are seeking highly motivated applicants for a Postdoctoral Appointment in solid-state inorganic chemistry. The researcher would join a multidisciplinary team, comprising the research groups of J. Mauzeroll, J. P. Lumb and T. Friščić at McGill University, and researchers at an industrial partner in the mining industry. The project is supported by an Alliance Grant (NSERC) that aims to improve the efficiency of separating precious metals by introducing mechanochemical processes into the production chain.The position is available immediately, and preference will be given to applicants who can begin within a short time window. Funding is available for a multi-year appointment, renewable on a yearly basis contingent upon mutual satisfaction. The Postdoctoral Researcher will develop novel conditions for sample activation, using state-of-the-art facilities available in the Chemistry Department (https://www.mcgill.ca/mc2). The candidate will also collaborate closely with researchers at the industrial partner’s facility, and be intimately involved in the development of a pilot plant in the industrial partner’s facilities.Start date: position is available immediatelyQualifications:The desired candidate must:

  • have completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, materials chemistry or closely related fields
  • enjoy working in a collaborative environment with diverse colleagues from different backgrounds
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills (English) demonstrated by a strong track record of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals and contributions to conferences
  • have a deep knowledge of coordination chemistry and experience in the characterization of materials using PXRD, TGA-DSC, IR, XPS and ICP
