Job Description

Our Montréal office is looking for a Specialist, Corporate Services and Knowledge Management to come join our team!The Specialist, CS&KM acts as the local/regional point of communication between the Business Law Group LPL and the local/regional practice group paraprofessionals. The Specialist observes, collects and provides local/regional practice group information to the LPL to contribute to ongoing improvement of the performance and quality of paraprofessional services.The Specialist works with paralegals, lawyers, students and articling students and may have to collaborate with the Learning team to meet the needs of the local Business Law practice group. The Specialist will support the lawyers and paralegals in their practice and contribute to the training of associates and junior paralegals.Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and coach students, articling students, associates and junior paraprofessionals on legal issues and review their work product.
  • Mentor junior paraprofessionals, students, articling students and junior lawyers as to the legal landscape related to the practice group.
  • Keep the practice group up to date on recent developments through training, memos or articles drafted with other members of the practice group.
  • Develop and provide training sessions on business law and corporate practice to students, articling students, associates and junior paraprofessionals.
  • Organize meetings and agendas for the practice group.
  • Work with the LPL to develop, draft and update model corporate documents and templates for the Corporate Services and the Business Law.
  • Work with the LPL in respect of changes to legislation or regulations requiring development of regional educational resources and knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise on a regular basis with paraprofessionals and lawyers within the practice group to identify current needs and plan for upcoming developments.
  • Support the paraprofessional team as required during periods of high demand or during the vacations of other team members.
*What you’ll bring*:
  • At least ten (10+) years of relevant experience, College education (D.E.C.) in paralegal studies or law degree.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong command of French and English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to summarize information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Interest in contributing to the training and mentoring of associates and junior paralegals.
  • A solid understanding of current legal terminology and excellent knowledge of federal and provincial corporate statutes and corporate procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
