Job Description

The VIE will assist the EHS Manager to implement SG EHS programs on site and participate to several EHS mandates with the coming Electrfication project of the Montreal Plant.Main responsibilities:Reporting to the Health, Safety & Environment Manager of the plant, the VIE will have the following mandate:

  • Participate in the update, improvement and application of programs such as energy control (lockout), hearing and respiratory protection, confined space entry, work at height, etc.
  • Participate in the progression of compliance with Saint-Gobains health, safety and environmental standards,
  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety inspections,
  • Participate in updating the EHS manual and training,
  • Provide prevention related training to employees,
  • Coaching the supervisor in risk analysis and accident investigation and analysis,
  • Maintain the departments performance indicators,
  • Participate in various EHS working committees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in occupational health and safety or equivalent,
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment,
  • Knowledge of Saint-Gobains health and safety standards and the various systems would be a plus,
  • Knowledge of EHS laws and regulations in manufacturing or industrial environments,
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
  • Ability to work in a team and to listen,
  • Leadership, analytical skills and good judgment,
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously,
  • Adaptable, organized, proactive and autonomous,
  • Bilingualism is a definite asset (French and English).
