Job Description

THE ROLE We have an excellent opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join 4-H Canada, a national not-for-profit organization that’s mission is to “empowers youth to be responsible, caring and contributing leaders that effect positive change in the world”. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for ensuring that 4-H Canada’s financial and business systems are effective, efficient. transparent and compliant in order to support the organizations’ capacity to meet their missions and strategic goals. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFO provides financial acumen, data and insights to leadership as well as the Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees to enable sound decision making.   • Oversees and leads an inclusive process to develop the annual budget.
  • Provides strategic vision, planning and oversight of 4-H Canada’s financial outlook.
  • Presents monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to senior leadership and boards.
  • Manages finance department team to include hiring, training, delegation of duties and performance management.
  • Provides leadership to the finance team, and ensures the organization’s practices are of sound financial management and makes recommendations to policy or procedure where appropriate
  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, financial software and reporting systems ensuring policies and procedures are in compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Works cooperatively as a member of the senior leadership team to support the strategic priorities and business plans of the organization
  • Coordinates and leads the annual audit process in cooperation with the auditors, CEO and Boards
  • Oversees the organizations’ cash flow management, forecasting and inter-organizational accounts.
  • Oversees the implementation of digital assets, capitol asset management, IT upgrades and oversees consultants on IT enhancement projects.
  • Represents 4-H Canada in a positive manner where appropriate to various stakeholders’ groups as a member of the senior leadership team as delegated by CEO.
  • Responsibilities may be amended from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold a university degree or college diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a management or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Having a Professional Accounting Designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in the not-for-profit sector and familiarity with charitable sector practices and guidelines is a must.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong digital skills including proficiency in various software such as QuickBooks, CRM’s, Excel, and MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills including strong verbal and written skills are essential.
  • A clear criminal reference check is required.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
