This position will stay open until a suitable candidate is found.DescriptionMaple Leaf School, in Western School Division, is looking for a caring and qualified person to fill the role of an English as an Additional Language Teacher.The successful candidate will support learning through developing and delivering English as an Additional Language programming. The incumbent will be responsible for doing EAL assessments with students new to the community and the school, developing language acquisition plans for students learning English as an additional language as well as supporting teachers in the implementation of these plans. The position will also provide opportunities to work with groups of students on common language goals. The successful candidate will collaborate with administration, the student services team, classroom teachers and educational assistants to find creative ways to build school community and relations amongst newcomer and existing students alike.The successful candidate must be a qualified teacher possessing a valid Manitoba teaching certificate or the ability to obtain such. Post-secondary training as well as experience teaching EAL is a valued asset for this position. The successful candidate must demonstrate a student-centred approach, an understanding of the Early Years Learning philosophy, and a commitment to the development of literacy. The successful candidate must be able to program and plan for short and long-term learning goals. They need to be able to work collaboratively to identify, plan and provide services for EAL learners using effective instruction. S/he is also required to provide ongoing assessments and report on student progress.The ability to teach Basic French will be considered an asset for all positions.Job Type: Part-timeSalary: $24,189.50-$51,944.00 per yearBenefits:
