Job Description

Pembina Valley Humane Society is a non-profit organization located in Southern Manitoba. Our mission is to promote humane and compassionate animal care through sheltering, adoption, education, and community outreach.   • Volunteer and Staff leadership (recruiting, training, coaching, leading, and managing)
  • Volunteer Program Management (recruiting, training, coaching, scheduling, and coordinating PVHS volunteers)
  • Foster Program Management (communicating, check-ins, recruiting, retaining, scheduling foster needs, training foster families, creating and implementing policy and program coordination)
  • Lead and facilitate PVHS program responsibilities such as community outreach, school education, special/fundraising event support, Trap Neuter Release program, as well as the other programs PVHS offers (this might include creating new programming, creating and implementing policy, training, facilitation, organizing, coaching, etc)
  • Support with adoption facilitation together with Animal Care Coordinator
  • Engage community members, staff, volunteers, adopters, donors, and sponsors in the mission of PVHS
  • Working with the Grants chair to secure funding for programs through grant proposals, works with the fundraising and sponsor chair to engage community partners.
  • Ensuring that policy is understood and trained to staff and volunteers, offer policy suggestions for improvement
  • Financially responsible for maintaining budgets and driven to meet revenue goals
Skillset, Knowledge, Training & Experience:
  • Business or Management degree or 2 years of relevant experience
  • A certificate in a recognized Clinic Assistant program or experience working for either a human or veterinary hospital is an asset.
  • Responsible and reliable, accountable for the shelter and well-being of the animals
  • Excellent leadership skills - positive, encouraging, enthusiastic, and goal driven
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Great communication skills, computer knowledge, and extremely well organized
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Pays attention to detail, and has excellent observation skills
  • Positive attitude and phenomenal team player
  • Self-starter that is self-motivated and requires minimal supervision
