Application review will commence on May 10, 2022DESCRIPTIONWestern School Division invites applications for the full-time permanent position of Transportation Supervisor.Reporting to the Superintendent/CEO, the Transportation Supervisor will play a crucial role within the Senior Administrative Team. The incumbent will work closely with Senior Management, administrators of schools, human resources, and staff supporting the Division in managing our transportation operation, including but not limited to developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective Transportation Management System, Programs, Projects and Practices that are aligned with the School Boards priorities, Division Strategy and current transportation needs. The Transportation Supervisor is a leader with business acumen who takes the initiative to promote policies, initiatives, and direction of the Western School Division. The incumbent is responsible for the organization and operation of the Divisions transportation services.The Incumbent shall exemplify strong moral values, high standards of ethical conduct, a commitment to the Divisions philosophy of education, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills.The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in a related field, be mechanically inclined, complemented with five years of progressive experience in similar roles. Experience working in the public sector is a definite asset. The successful candidate will possess expertise in project management, budgeting, workforce planning, human resources, organizing, directing, controlling, and analyzing the transportation operation and its effectiveness. Also, they will demonstrate experience working under pressure and dealing with complex issues in a fast-paced environment with excellent leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Knowledge and logistics in scheduling and managing bus routes are vital. Awareness of permitting requirements and a good working relationship with MSTW and our Municipal partners are highly valued. The incumbent must be safety cautious and be able to organize, implement and supervise health and safety programs within the department, have the ability to develop safe work procedures, conduct safety talks, workplace health and safety investigations with further communication and reports on investigations. Therefore the successful candidate must possess strong oral and writing skills in English. The ability to speak fluently in French will be an asset. Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and other programs and tools such as Zoom, Teams etc., is a must. The Incumbent must remain current with all applicable laws and regulations related to the position and promote and maintain positive relationships between Western School Division and its employees. The successful applicant will be required to travel to various school locations and organizations across the province when needed, including transporting and driving the School Bus. Therefore, a condition of employment is that the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid full Manitoba Class 5F drivers license and a Class 2 Manitoba Drivers License with School Bus Driver Certification and must be qualified as a Certified School Bus Driver Instructor or willing to obtain such within a specified period of time.A condition of employment with the Western School Division is a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and an agreement by the applicant to disclose criminal record and/or Abuse Registry record information to the Division.
