While supporting assigned service calls, monitors building system operations and performance. Interacts directly with store management. Utilizes several trade skills beyond HVAC and refrigeration skills such as electrical and gas pipingESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESComplies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safetyPerforms assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repairs records as requiredReviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks and maintain good inventory of parts in service vehicle. Utilizes CMMS to manage work orders and track completionResponsible for installation and modification of building equipment systemsResponsible for the preventative maintenance and corrective repair of HVAC roof top units (RTUs), air handling units (AHUs), compressor racks, dehumidification units, heating, and cooling system (boiler, chiller, and cooling tower) and refrigeration equipment such as walk in/reach in coolers and freezersInspects building systems including electrical system HVAC/R, and heating and cooling system to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractorsOperates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely mannerMaintains an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimumReport and communicate on a daily basis all work activity via phone, laptop or other company provided equipmentOther duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Prior HVAC and supermarket refrigeration experience preferred.CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSESAppropriate level of provincial Gas license based on provincial jurisdictionHVAC-R Licensure as required by the provincial Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) ODP Certificate - Ozone Depletion CertificationRefrigeration License from an accredited school or through a completed apprenticeship program preferred. Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair preferred. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local jurisdictions.Possess and maintain a valid drivers license and good driving record with periodic checksCOMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGERequires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles.
