Job Description

At Merit Kitchens, the Shipping Coordinator oversees the logistics and shipping by arranging best means of transportation for cost effectiveness and customer delivery requirements to destinations within Canada, the United States, and abroad. They will coordinate and monitor the movements of finished goods. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage shipping logistics, including coordinating pickups.
  • Review and negotiate freight chargers and provide freight quotes internally and to distributors.
  • Coordinate responses to internal and external inquiries regarding shipping: quotes, shipping dates, schedules, etc.
  • Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods via road and air, ensuring cargo reaches its destination in the most expedited and cost-effective way.
  • Prepare shipment in advance based on scheduling.
  • Communicate shipping notices with clients (through Customer Service) in advance of actual ship dates.
  • Plan and oversee shipping, determine space requirements, and ensure timely customer delivery of product.
  • Oversee timeliness and accuracy of documentation including shipping labels, bills of lading, TSCA, and invoices.
  • Obtain competitive quotes via RFQ and select best rate and/or transit times.
Job Requirements:
  • Diploma in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • 2+ years Shipping logistics experience in a manufacturing environment, with preference to Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturing
  • Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate
  • Experience with waybills, bills of lading, and international shipments.
  • Knowledge of freight rate calculations and safe packing methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Experience operating material handling equipment is considered an asset.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 Training considered an asset
