Job Description

Duties :•Excel in the planning, preparation and execution of critical projects, tests, and deliverables according to international standards and customer requirements in the office, laboratory, and the field•Oversee design of test methods and putting them into practice•Manage and execute projects including scope, budget, schedule and quality in accordance with company’s quality controls and leveraging company resources and processes•Strong understanding of the subject matter and prepare detailed technical reports including detailed documentation throughout all phases of projects and testing•Effectively promote Powertech services to existing and potential clients, attract new business opportunities and facilitate the flow of projects and work for the group •Respond to requests for quotations and proposals including detailed technical proposals, cost estimates, and work schedules•Develop innovative engineering techniques and apply theoretical and practical knowledge in testing, analysis, and problem resolution•Maintain professional relationships with other departments, outside consultants, contractors, and suppliers in order to effectively gather and relay information and resolve issues•Fosters collaboration and knowledge transfer, coaching and mentoring, and organizational awareness.•Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed and mentor and coach technicians during troubleshootingQualifications* Electrical engineering (or related) degree from a recognized University * Minimum Eight years of progressive engineering experience. Relevant experience in a utility environment is an asset.* Registration or ability to immediately register as a professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (i.e., non-British Columbia registrations are acceptable as long as there is an ability to immediately transfer the accreditation).Experience with one or more of the following areas in Grid Modernization (industrial experience preferred and academic project work will be considered, if applicable):* Distribution Engineering and/or Automation* Protection and Control* Commissioning, testing and validation of medium voltage electric grid equipment.* Grid impact management of end use devices (electric vehicles, load management devices and commercial building management systems)* Distributed energy resource (DER) modeling and distribution system planning using *PSCAD, SKM or other similar tools* Minimum of two years of project management experience* Technical knowledge in Electric Utility EngineeringIn addition, the following are desired competencies: •Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Outlook.Experience with databases is an asset.•Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.•Able to listen and encourage open dialogue with project team members.Able to receive constructive feedback and present alternate points of view to Managers and stakeholders.•Uncompromising dedication to safety and quality.•Ability to work independently and with a team and role model high standards of professionalism.Proven ability to deliver in matrix organization.Job status : Full time Regular Job location : Surrey - in officeJob grade : P3Note : candidates with lesser qualifications and experience will be considered at a more appropriate grade level.
