The Opportunity:Are you a strong, business-oriented, operationally focused finance leader - ideally from a B2B industrial tech environment - who enjoys partnering across the business to contribute to growth strategies, profitability, and positive impact Are you keen to contribute your expertise to our much-needed journey to a clean economy and ecosystemWith approximately 300 team members and sophisticated customers around the world, Greenlight Innovation is a well-established, privately-owned global leader in testing equipment for specific clean energy technologies.To help Greenlight prepare for a new phase of impact, growth, and governance, we are now seeking a business-oriented VP, Finance to become a key member of the senior leadership team, and report directly to the Managing Director.In this role, you will lead the finance function of a high growth, clean technology company, which brings a rare combination of fully commercialized, proven technology with a solid and growing global customer base - coupled with a strong sense of purpose and camaraderie.About Greenlight Innovation:Based in Metro Vancouver (Burnaby) BC, Greenlight Innovation (www.greenlightinnovation.com) is an established and successful industrial tech company, and a key contributor to the development of our clean energy future. Customers around the world use their specialized equipment to develop and build the next generation of fuel cells and electrolyzers; they are in fact the largest supplier of electrochemical cell testing equipment in the world. Greenlight’ s global customer base is an impressive list of automotive companies, tier-1 suppliers, chemical and fuel cell companies, as well as government labs and research organizations.Established in 2008, with around 300 staff and two manufacturing facilities, Greenlight is an affiliate company of AVL Gmbh. Privately owned and based in Austria, AVL is one of the world’s leading companies in mobility technologies and testing for the transportation sector.Responsibilities:Overview: Lead the finance function and team, while contributing to the business as a key member of the senior leadership team. Oversee financial reporting, analysis, and leadership to support business decision making. Develop financial policies, systems, and procedures. Proactively work with senior management team to support quality, profitability, growth, and cost optimization. Specific areas of ownership include:

  • Leadership: lead and develop an experienced and collaborative finance team, monitoring all financial affairs of the company, which include, budgeting, audit, taxation, planning and analysis, capital investment, treasury, risk management, credit, and collections.
  • Financial operations and reporting: oversight of the processes, and tools to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting to support the business: develop and support control mechanisms to ensure revenue recognition and reporting under IFRS standards; oversee reporting requirements to AVL GmbH, the privately-owned Austrian parent company.
  • Financial planningamp; analysis: collaboratively lead the annual and quarterly planningamp; budgeting process; lead operational and capital budgeting.
  • Taxationamp; regulatory: oversee corporate tax and SRED claims filing; ensure compliance with local and foreign tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Treasury:plan and manage cash and working capital levels; oversee the foreign exchange heading strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagementamp; Negotiation: Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders - including Board members, the Greenlight executive team, finance leaders/colleagues in AVL, as well as audit, insurance, banking, and technology providers. Negotiateamp; manage bank and/or third-party financing packages. Work with supply chain to manage and negotiate financial terms of key suppliers.
  • Strategy: participate with senior managementto develop and execute company strategy and direction.
  • Information Technology: oversee IT function and lead IT team; participate in implementation of SAP financial module (led by AVL project manager).
Skillsamp; Experience Checklist:Required to qualify:
  • Robust financial leadership experience involving strategic business management, financial planningamp; analysis, and high-impact decision making.
  • Exposure to B2B industry involving global supply chains, cost optimization, and international customers/operations.
  • Demonstrated management of a finance team (likely 4+).
  • Direct experience with IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Strong overall knowledge of FP amp;A, treasury, risk management, audit, taxation, financial reporting and controllership.
  • CPA designation with likely 10+ years in industry.
Preferred but not essential:
  • Change management and cost optimization exposure in a high-growth tech environment.
  • Exposure to in-house or sub-contract manufacturing environments, especially in industrial tech sector.
  • IT function oversightamp; ERP implementation (ideally SAP).

Location:
  • The VP, Finance role will be based at the Greenlight Innovation HQ in Burnaby, BC. Greenlight believes in the power of in-person collaboration and team leadership, but is certainly open to discussing and agreeing on a hybrid working arrangement. This is not a remote position, and the VP, Finance will need to live within commuting distance.
Compensation:
  • The anticipated compensation for this position lies in the range of CAD$190 - 240K basic annual salary plus an additional performance bonus. Positioning within this range will depend on a number of factors including seniority and experience of the incoming VP Finance.
  • Benefits package including dental, extended health, Employee and Family Assistance Program and Group RRSP with 3% matching.
