The Surveyor General Branch maintains a comprehensive and precise geospatial parcel management system to manage more than 300,000 parcels that exist on these lands.Want to learn more and contribute to the dissemination and publication of this data to stakeholders, then SGB may be for you!The Surveyor General Branch (SGB) https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/earth-sciences/geomatics/canada-lands-surveys/10780 is the Government of Canada Centre of expertise for land surveying, geodesy and the international boundary between Canada and the United States.This mandate is delivered through offices situated in 11 different locations across Canada namely: Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Regina, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto, Ontario; Ottawa, Ontario; Québec, Québec; Amherst, Nova Scotia (for Atlantic Canada), Whitehorse, Yukon; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and Iqaluit, Nunavut.The Surveyor General Branch is looking for a Geomatics Officer to join the Land Survey Registry team to provide technical support in the dissemination and publication of the geospatial parcel data.Summary of Duties / Activities may include:

  • Design and develop geospatial data transformation routines to create cadastral geospatial datasets for external users.
  • Design, build and develop geospatial Web Services and Web Tools.
  • Facilitate the integration of SGB data with external information systems by developing and implementing geospatial solutions.
  • Integration of ISO 19115 Metadata with external systems.
  • Maintain automated mapping routines that create and update custom regional mapping products.
  • Maintain mapping products in support of branch activities.
  • Develop and provide training to client organizations.
  • Provides technical advice, guidance and assistance to internal users and client organizations.
