Job Description

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, Werklund School of Agriculture Technology (WSAT) is seeking an instructor to deliver course materials for Principles of Soils and Crop Nutrition. The successful candidate will report to the Dean, WSAT.The Opportunity: Soil Management and Crop Production Instruction, WSATSoil Management and Crop Production will describe the production practices and principles of annual crop and perennial forage crop production and develop skills in soil management, soil conservation and plant nutrition in sustainable agricultural systems.Students will identify major field crops, and their adaptations in western Canada, while discussing factors that lead to soil degradation and the production practices that can mitigate these problems.Knowledge of farm operations and soil management are components of this course.Qualifications

  • The successful candidates will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, and soil sciences or an equivalent. Relevant industry experience is an asset. Previous and recent instructional experience is preferred.
  • We are seeking dynamic individuals who have a strong industry network, the desire to develop as an integral member of a successful instructional team, and who possess excellent organizational abilities, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You will be comfortable with technology, the use of relevant software and learning management systems.
Responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively as part of an instructional team;
  • Preparation and delivery of classes;
  • Assessment and reporting of learner achievement;
  • Facilitation of positive, productive student learning experiences;
  • Use of appropriate instructional technology (e.g., OC Moodle).
